Sending big files by email

We can accept emails with attachments of up to around 10mb (most people will not be able to send files of that size though.)

Many of the enormous emails that we receive do not actually need to be so large and can easily be reduced in size.

Here are some quick tips on how to bring the size of your emails down:

Image resolution

If you are sending images to us which are going to be used on-screen (i.e. in a PowerPoint presentation, CD-ROM or website,) we only need them at a low resolution (72dpi.) Ensure you ask for low resolution product photography from your art department and the size of your emails will be vastly reduced.

Bulk emailing files

If you are sending a number of larger files (i.e. 4mb,) don’t attach them all in one huge email. Simply send a series of emails with one file attached to each to ensure that they get through both your and our email systems.

Message still too big?

If your email system is still unable to send your message, you will may have use another system to send the message.

Your company may have an FTP site where files can be uploaded and downloaded directly to and from the internet. We have our own FTP site which can be used by clients upon request.

Alternatively, we recommend mailbigfile.com, which allows you to send attachments of up to 100mb (as this is an external website, we cannot guarantee its security and would not recommend it for the transfer of sensitive files.)
