Costa Christmas Celebration 2015
Every autumn, Costa Coffee treat their store managers, support teams and other key personnel to a festive extravaganza and 2015 was no exception. The event welcomed over 2000 delegates to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, for a day of theatre, interactive expo sessions, formal presentations and Recognition. brightfive were invited back to this annual event by our long-term client Roebuck Productions.
The day was broken into 3 distinct parts. First the fun and theatrical launch of Costa’s Christmas products and campaign, ‘The Wizard of Ops’. This visually exciting session was made up of an hour-long stage show followed by the fully-themed Expo.
Next was the annual Barista of the Year UK & Ireland Finals. This session sees the eight best baristi from Costa’s UK stores go head to head, live on stage. In order to claim one of the 5 spots in the World Championships, the contestants must create perfect coffees, including their own original recipes, for a panel of judges. The five winners were selected and announced at the event.
Finally, the day was closed with a more formal Business Update presentation, looking back on Costa’s last 6 months and sharing messages and targets the rest of the business year.
The three sessions needed to look and feel completely different and separate from one another. This required us to design three distinctive Keynote Themes - from the fantastic creative challenge of the movie-inspired ‘Wizard of Ops’ slides to the more traditional (but still, of course, very attractive) Barista of the Year and Business Update slides.
In addition to designing all screen content, we oversaw the design and print of event signage and stationery, and were onsite assisting speakers with rehearsals, last-minute changes and operating graphics in this technically complex show.
Costa Christmas Assistant Managers’ Cascade
After the main event in Coventry, Costa wanted to share the events key messages with their Assistant Store managers across the UK. The Cascade presentations take place in 8 locations around the country and aims to bring a flavour of the main event, on a much smaller scale. A mixture of formal presentations, workshop sessions and even some of the fun theatrical elements of the main show, these events focus on ensuring the Christmas Celebration’s messages are communicated and implemented with consistency across the business.
brightfive worked closely with key Costa personnel to produce a PowerPoint deck which clearly and engagingly communicated key messages. These small-scale events would have only very minimal crew and no onsite graphics operator. With this in mind, we took care to produce a professional-looking, yet extremely easy to run presentation, which incorporated all video and music within the PowerPoint.
