All Change: brightfive on-board at two special East Coast events30 JUN
Recently, we’ve had the pleasure of spending a fair bit of time in the ever-welcoming offices of East Coast Trains, working on two important events for the rail operator.
East Coast, as most will know, is undergoing a great deal of change at the moment, as the company readies itself for the transition from public to private ownership. At this significant juncture in the business’ life, East Coast wanted to invite their staff to two special events; the Spring Roadshow and The East Coast Business Excellence Awards.
On behalf of our regular client, Production Values, we worked closely with East Coast's Managing Director, Karen Boswell and the East Coast team to ensure both events celebrated, recognised and prepared their employees for the changes ahead.
In May, the Spring Roadshow welcomed management from across the business; from the station, on-board, engineering, administrative and support teams. Held in Stevenage and Newcastle, the Roadshow delivered a positive, upbeat look to the future of the business, spurred on by its remarkable successes since the 2009 public takeover. The day aimed to equip managers with the tools to inspire and energise their teams, combining formal presentations, interactive ‘table top’ exercises and a motivational speech from author and ex-footballer, Rasmus Ankersen.
brightfive were tasked to design and operate the day’s Keynote and Prezi presentations. In-keeping with the spirit of the event, we needed to create content which communicated a lot of important information in a bright, colourful, energetic way. I was operating all presentations onsite and can genuinely say this was a brilliantly run event. Smooth, exactly to time, with a great team and an engaged audience.
Next came June and with it The East Coast Business Excellence Awards, which recognised talent from within the company as voted by employees. The event took place at The York Barbican Centre (right on my doorstep, handily) and welcomed employees from right across the business - from Chief Executives to cleaners - to thank everyone for their talent, hard work and loyalty.
The day was focused on really spoiling East Coast’s best people. Themed with plenty of glitz and glamour, the event even included a 32-piece orchestra and a guest compere - British Olympic triple-jump champion, Jonathan Edwards. Working in super-widescreen (8 x 20ft), we designed and operated the Awards in Keynote.
Delegates enjoyed a delicious looking dinner and an open bar, whilst us lucky crew were treated to a Pizza Hut delivery.
We’ve been working regularly with East Coast since 2010. We’ve seen the company go from strength to strength, turning around a business that was seriously struggling pre-2009 to become a thriving and profitable company. It feels as if we’ve been on this journey with East Coast over the past 4 years, as they've transformed their business into one of Britian's strongest brands and the number one long distance choice for customers.
It certainly seems like the end of an era, but we’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds for our clients, neighbours and friends at East Coast.
