Charities

brightfive commit to supporting charities that we believe will make a difference.

Each year we choose two charities; one which has a positive social impact on people either home or abroad and one which supports the industries which we work in.

In 2008/09 we will be supporting KIVA and Cake Software Foundation

KIVA is a not for profit social venture which allows lenders to give to a specific entrepreneur in a poor or developing world country.

This remarkably simple system highlights the power of online communities and enables supporters to have a big impact with a small amount of money.

Since Kiva.org was launched more than two years ago, it has brokered more than $6.5 million in interest-free loans to more than 9,000 businesses around the world.

Cake Software Foundation is the not for profit software organisation behind CakePHP.

Cake PHP is a free open-source rapid development framework for PHP – the programming language which we use for the majority of our web applications.

Their primary goal is to enable their users to work in a structured and rapid manner – without loss of flexibility.
