We are a creative digital communications agency, based in York since 2003.
We have worked with companies big and small, helping them to communicate their messages creatively and effectively.
We like to build lasting relationships. We enjoy working together and we like to think our clients enjoy getting to know us too.
As over 90% of our clients choose to work with us again - whether that’s down our dazzling personalities or our experience, enthusiasm and technical excellence - we’re certainly doing something right.
How We Work
If we can’t stand by it, we don’t do it
We only sell services we’re good at and we have high standards.
Honesty is the best policy
We give realistic quotes and realistic deadlines. We don’t sneak unexpected ‘extras’ into your invoice and we keep you fully informed along the way.
We are friendly people who
like what we do
It's simple: we aim to be open, professional
and nice to work with.
Director / Events / Project Management / Design / Content Manager / Graphics Operator
Katie heads up our Events Department and loves the adrenaline-rush of working in live media (although she does occasionally complain that it is a little tiring). With over 20 years industry experience, she has been all over the place for all sorts of clients, working on all sorts of projects.
Katie is married and has two children, Matilda & Thomas. When she’s not spending time with her family, Katie spends far too much time laughing hysterically with her friends and dancing in too high heels than really is seemly for a woman of her age.
Director / Web Design / Project Management / Strategy
From a background in music and video Simon got into the internet early and has spent his time since working with a wide range of clients of different shapes and sizes on successful digital communication projects. He is a stickler for visual detail and enjoys working closely with clients, building relationships to ensure the best results.
In his spare time he enjoys listening to and writing music, studying karate, motorcycling and spending time with his family. As an IAM qualified advanced driver, in another life he'd have probably liked to have been a "firm but fair" traffic policeman. He's also been known to dress up to attend sci-fi conventions but the less said about that the better.
Accounts / Administration / Office Management / Project Assisting
Ellie joined the brightfive in 2011 to help us with much needed administrative support. She’s now in charge of keeping our accounts ship-shape and the general running of the office - we don’t know what we’d do without her.
Ellie is married and has 2 children and a bonkers golden retriever called Woody. Outside of work she seems to do an inordinate amount of wholesome and healthy activities like family dog walks, running, going to kettlecise and zumba, and is always either planning or going on holidays.
Designer / Graphics Operator / Programmer
Si joined brightfive in 2006 and has since become an integral member of the team. He’s quite proud of his attention to detail and (near obsessive) timekeeping. Si’s always looking to improve and expand upon his already formidable knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft suites. He keeps his ear to the ground and often knows about the latest software and hardware before it is even released... like the proud geek he is.
Si and his wife Kylie have three young sons - Oscar, Arthur and Jonah, who keep them busy. He is a huge Star Wars fan and we all know NEVER to bring this topic up in the office if we wish to get any work done that day.
Presentations / Design / Graphics Operator / Social Media / Copywriting
Sophie joined brightfive in 2012, working with both the web and events sides of the business. She’s one of those annoying people who are good at loads of things so her role is varied and she is always in great demand from all departments. Sophie’s previous experience includes a marketing role at an independent school and as founder of a music and theatre events company.
Sophie loves festivals, theatre and indulging her wanderlust. She’s always seems to be either talking about or eating food, which leads us to wonder...why is she so small?
Coding / SEO / PPC / eCommerce
Jamie likes nothing better than wrestling with a thorny technical issue.
That's not strictly true - he likes sitting in a Spanish beach bar more. But he does enjoy a knotty problem and also constantly trying to improve the way we do things. That’s why he’s our lead coder. Additionally after cutting his teeth in the super-competitive property sector he also knows a thing or two about SEO, PPC and online marketing.
He owns a chimenea and an old man's hat and likes sitting in his back garden with both. Oh, and his lovely wife and two sons. Jamie can be bought with Haribo. Like, even quite a small bag.
Fancy working with us?
Nice person? Good at what you do? We’re always excited to hear from talented, experienced people who are interested in joining us.
We strive to make brightfive a nice place to be, after all we spend a lot of our time here. We expect our employees to work hard, do their best and strive to develop their talents. We don’t expect them to put work before everything else - family and partners come first, we understand that.
We have a brilliant team who enjoy working together. In many ways we’re very different, but we all share the same attitudes to work: we believe in high standards, fair play, being friendly and never taking ourselves too seriously. It’s important to us to hire the best person for the team as well as the best person for the job.
If brightfive sounds like somewhere you’d like to work give us a call on 01904 691040 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
